Contract Signing for Expansion of Muara Laboh Geothermal Power Plant Project

Consortium of Sumitomo Corporation, PT Inti Karya Persada Tehnik and PT Wasa Mitra Engineering has signed the contract for the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) Contract for the expansion of Muara Laboh Geothermal Power Project (Project) with PT Supreme Energy Muara Laboh (SEML) on December 24, 2024.
The Project will have a Nominal Continuous Rating (NCR) capacity of approximately 83 MW (Net), with the target for Commercial Operation Date (COD) in 2027. Furthermore, the construction of this Project will increase the portion of the new renewable energy mix in Sumatra Island, following the operation of the Muara Laboh Geothermal Power Plant Unit-1 which has been operating since December, 2019 with a capacity of approximately 85 MW.
The addition of the Project will also create a multiplier effect not only in the efforts to reduce carbon emissions but also play an important role in improving community welfare.
This project shows strong collaboration between SEML and its partners in demonstrating their shared commitment to advancing geothermal energy in Indonesia that in line with the Indonesian government’s goals of increasing renewable energy adoption and achieving net-zero emissions in 2060.
IKPT remains committed to supporting the realization of a sustainable society and fostering the economic development of Indonesia.
