Inauguration of “Synthetic Rubber” Factory Construction in Indonesia
The SRI U3 Project is a project to build a plant that will produce new and latest generation Synthetic Rubbers, with target total capacity of 120,000 tons of product per annum (year). The U3 Plant will be operated by Synthetic Rubber Indonesia, a joint venture company owned by Michelin and Chandra Asri Petrochemical Group, and it will be Michelin’s 3rd Synthetic Rubber Plant in the world.
On Wednesday, December 2nd , 2015 in Cilegon, Banten the “Construction Commencement Ceremony” was conducted and opened by Mr. Bradley R. Karas (SRI President Director) and Mr. Eiji Hosoi (IKPT CEO) respectively.
“In his speech, Mr Bradley Explained the meaning of U3 name, that is Unit no. 3 (Synthetic Rubber Plant No. 3) in the world being built by Michelin. With this commencement of construction activities, Mr. Bradly expects that U3 project can be accomplished safely, on budget and on schedule with emphasize that safety shall not be compromised in any circumstance. With this campaign, everyone is expected aware of and accident can be avoided as much as possible so that they can always be home safely”.
Also Mr. E. Hosoi’s remarks in this event was:
“Reminiscing of my time spent in Cilegon for the Ethylene Projects last 20 years ago, of which it was a great experience for me in Indonesia. This time I come back to the same place with a prestigious and challenging project. However, with full support and cooperation from SRI, I believe that the project can surely be complete as per Mr. Karas’s expectation”.
Symbolizing of the construction commencement, the ceremony was continued by cutting off a yellow rice (called nasi tumpeng) as the ultimate program performed by Mr. Michiaki Tanaka of IKPT Project Manager, and a piece by piece delivered to the following VIPs:

The Ceremony was ended with site Walk Through by all Management SRI-IKPT-TOYO Team only to go around the site office and other temporary building currently under construction. Walk Through headed by Mr. Masahiko Tezuka of IKPT Deputy Site Manager.
