After being announced a few months ago, the award of the Construction Project of Butene-1 (B1) Plant, Methyl Tert-Butyl Ether (MTBE) Plant and Enclosed Ground Flare (EGF) by PT Petrokimia Butadiene Indonesia (PBI), a subsidiary of PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk (Chandra Asri), to Toyo Engineering Corporation (TOYO) and PT. Inti Karya Persada Tehnik (IKPT), currently the B1-MTBE-EGF Project is entering the initial phase of construction.

On August 15, 2018, the B1-MTBE-EGF Project held a Groundbreaking event which was symbolically carried out as a sign of the commencement of the construction of the Project. This event was held at IKPT Site Office, Cilegon, Banten.

The commitment agreed upon by TOYO – IKPT – Subcontractors to PBI and Chandra Asri is stated in the “Commitment Board” which is signed as a form of agreement to be carried out, including “Zero Lost Time Accident (LTA) & Environmental Spill, Meet Quality Requirement, On Target Schedule, Vertical Start Up” until this project is complete.

The Walkthrough is carried out in two places, namely in the Substation area and the ISBL area.  At the Substation area, Mr. Kulachet Dharachandra (Vice President Director of Chandra Asri), Mr. Masaaki Yamaguchi (Chairman of Toyo), Mr. Yasuhiro Hime (President Director of IKPT) symbolically carried out digging the soil and followed by spreading flowers by Chandra Asri, PBI, TOYO, IKPT, and Subcontractors.   Whereas in the ISBL area, the same thing was also done by the Chandra Asri Management Representative (Mr. Ruly Aryawan), TOYO (Mr. Etsushi Matsumura), IKPT (Mr. Pramono A.P) and other PM Subcontractors.

In every project undertaken by the IKPT, IKPT very much cares about the environment, community and local social life. Likewise, in the B1-MTBE-EGF Project, there were donations given to orphans around the project to be built. Charity Giveaway was directly given by Mr. M. Yamaguchi and Mr. Y. Hime. This session has a very important meaning in the implementation of the B1-MTBE-EGF Project.   At the end of the event, commemoration gifts were shared from TOYO-J to Chandra Asri and IKPT to PBI.

It is great pride for IKPT and also TOYO, that IKPT & TOYO were entrusted to work on the B1 Plant with capacity of 43,000 tons/ year and MTBE Plant with capacity of 127,700 tons/ year, which will use CDMtbe Technology, BASF’s Selective Hydrogenation and Butene-1 Separation Technology from CB & I. This B1 and MTBE plant will be the first plants in Indonesia made by IKPT and TOYO.
