IKPT Signs the EPC Contract of Tanjung Uncang Add-On CCPP 39 MW Project
On Friday, July 21st, 2023, PT Energi Listrik Batam (Owner) and PT Inti Karya Persada Tehnik (IKPT), Batam Branch has signed the EPC Contract of Tanjung Uncang Add-On Combine Cycle Power Plant (CCPP) Project 39 MW Project. Prior to the EPC Contract signing, at the same day, Owner also signed the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with PT PLN Batam (Purchaser). The signing ceremony was held at the Radisson Golf and Convention Center, Batam, Indonesia.
PT Energi Listrik Batam (“ELB”) is a subsidiary of Medco Power Indonesia (MPI) and MPI’s operating asset in Batam Island. Previously ELB has developed and now operating the Gas Power Plant (PLTG) with capacity of 2 x 35 MW Simple Cycle Power Plant (SCPP), which has been in commercial since 2016. The new additional capacity through the construction of 39 MW CCPP will utilize the exhaust gas from the existing simple cycle power plant. Therefore, it will convert the Tanjung Uncang Gas Power Plant (PLTG) to Tanjung Uncang Steam Gas Power Plant (PLTGU) with the total contracted capacity of 109 MW. The utilization of the exhaust gas in the add-on facility will reduce the requirement of gas fuel for the power generation and cost of production, and also supporting to decrease the carbon emission intensity in Batam – Bintan area. This in line with the Government’s program to reduce carbon emissions in Indonesia and achieve the net zero emission by 2060.
President Director of MPI, Mr. Eka Satria in his speech at the ceremony stated that the collaboration of all parties is important to face the challenges of electricity supply in Batam. According to him, with the high electricity growth and the concept of independence in the implementation of power generation by PT PLN Batam, it will drive a special attraction for investors to Batam.
Mr. Yasuhiro Hime as the President Director of IKPT, stated that IKPT is eager to work together with all parties for the success of the project, which also support to decrease carbon emission in Batam area by utilization of exhaust gas in the new add-on facility. The EPC contract completion is scheduled in 24 months for plant ready for Commercial Operation Date (COD) starting from the Notice to Proceed (NTP) issuance date.
