TOYO – Korea and IKPT Are Trusted to Be EPC Contractors for the Expansion of the Butadiene Project with a Capacity of 137 KTA
Petrokimia Butadiene Indonesia (PBI), a subsidiary of PT. Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk (CAP) plans to increase the capacity of its existing Butadiene plant by 37% in year 2018. In order to realize the plan, the Company has appointed Toyo-Korea and PT. IKPT to execute the EPC project. Toyo-Korea in this project will undertake the scope of Engineering and Offshore Procurement, while IKPT will cover for the scope of Onshore Procurement and Construction. For Toyo-Korea scope, contract was signed by Mr. Toru Osanai (President & CEO of Toyo-Korea, Limited) and from IKPT, the contract was signed by Mr. Eiji Hosoi (President Director & CEO of PT. IKPT). The contract signing ceremony was held on January 23, 2017 at Wisma Bar
PBI currently operates its Butadiene Plant in Cilegon (Banten), Indonesia with total capacity of 100 KTA. This first Butadiene Plant was constructed by Toyo-Korea and completed in 2013. Following the Cracker expansion plant which was completed in 2015, CAP now has excess of Mixed C4 production which is used as feedstock of the Butadiene Plant. Therefore the company has decided to increase its Butadiene plant capacity to become 137 KTA and appointed Toyo-Korea for the FEED work in 2016. Butadiene will be further used as a feedstock to the Client’s upcoming synthetic rubber plant which is under construction by Toyo and IKPT.
For this Butadiene Expansion project, PBI also has signed agreement with Lummus Technology Inc. as the licensor and engineering design of BASF/ Butadiene Extraction technology.
For Toyo-Korea and IKPT as Toyo’s group company, this collaboration will serve as an important step to once again demonstrating Toyo’s group strength as EPC global contractor in front of respected Clients, such as CAP. This project also will add a mark to group company partnership ahead, thus we will provide our full effort to obtain the success of the project.
