Groundbreaking of Solar Photovoltaic Electricity Project on Karampuang Island
Power Plant Project uses Solar Photovoltaic System is being implemented under Grant funding by MCA-Indonesia “Green Prosperity” Program. It was held on Friday, May 19, 2017 Ground breaking of Solar Photovoltaic Electricity in Karampuang Island, West Sulawesi.
The event was attended by Mr. Andry Thamrin (Green Prosperity Director), Mr. Lucas Adyaksa (MCA Deputy CEO), Mr. Henky Loa (SKY Energy Director), Mr. Yoyo Sudaryo (SKY Team), Mr. Yasuhiro Hime (IKPT Director), then H.E Alibaal Masdar (West Sulawesi Governor) and Mr. Habsi Wahid (Regent of Mamuju).
Karampuang Island is located in the district of Mamuju in West Sulawesi, Indonesia, total population is 3,317 people, of which about 80% of the employed people are fishermen and seaweed farmers. Electricity on the island is currently provided by diesel engine generators for local community at relatively high cost of fuel and can be use from 18:00 – 22:00, and environmental impact due to diesel emissions. With generating electricity by solar photovoltaic, an affordable supply of power will be provided to the people in Karampuang Island.
