Inauguration of the Siberut Biomass Power Plant (PLTBm), West Sumatra
IKPT has successfully completed the Siberut Integrated Biomass Gas Power Plant (PLTBm) Project and the project handover was carried out on July 13, 2018 at MCA-I Jakarta office. Siberut PLTBm is one of the projects funded by the Millennium Challenge Corporation Compact (MCC) in collaboration with the Government of Indonesia through the Millennium Challenge Account Indonesia (MCA-I).
This project provides electricity supply of 700 kW which then will be able to serve 1,181 households located in 3 villages namely Saliguma, Madobag and Matotonan Siberut Island, West Sumatra.
- Saliguma Biomass Power Plant has a capacity of 250kW, supported by 2 units of WBG-200 Gasifier, 1 unit of WBG-100 Gasifier and 4 units of Gas Engine Generator.
- Madobag Biomass Power Plant has a capacity of 300kW, supported by 3 units of WBG-200 Gasifier and 4 units of Gas Engine Generator.
- Matotonan Biomass Power Plant has a capacity of 150kW, supported by 1 unit of WBG-200 Gasifier, 1 unit of WBG-100 Gasifier and 2 units of Gas Engine Generator.
This project has been completed successfully and achieved “kept safe man hours” up to completion with a “zero accident”.
On September 17, 2019 the project was inaugurated by the Minister of National Development Planning Agency (BPPN) / Head of Bappenas, Bambang Brodjonegoro with the signing of PLTBm inscription. In one of his remarks, he conveyed an apology to the people who had been waiting for electricity in this area for a long time. This project is a form of central government concern for the front and outer regions of the Republic of Indonesia. Congratulatory and thank you message were conveyed by the Minister to the MCC grant team at the Ministry of PPN / Bappenas, Mentawai Regional Government, PLN West Sumatra and contractors who were involved in the planning and construction of PLTBm in the three villages, namely PT Charta Putra Indonesia, PT IKPT and PT Ekologika “.
The event was also attended by the Deputy Governor of West Sumatra – Bpk. H. Nasrul Abit, Regent of Mentawai Islands, West Sumatra – Bpk. Yudas Sabaggalet, Sumatra Regional Business Director – Bpk. Wiluyo Kusdwiharto, President Director of PT. Charta Putra Indonesia – Bpk. Jaya Wahono as Implementer, and from the contractor side is President Director of PT Inti Karya Persada Tehnik – Bp. Yasuhiro Hime.
With the inauguration of the Siberut PLTBM, this marks IKPT’s achievement in participating a new Renewable Energy (EBT) development construction project, besides that the construction of the PLTBm on Siberut Island is the first community-based rural electricity concept in Indonesia with bamboo raw material which can supply electricity and increase the electrification ratio of the Mentawai islands from 55% to 61% for local people who are in “remote areas” on Siberut Island.
PT IKPT committed to achieve more experience in developing renewable energy infrastructure planned by the Government of Indonesia and will always be ready to continue working to provide and build local infrastructure development services in the “remote area” and the foremost and outermost islands of the Republic of Indonesia.
