IKPT Awarded EPC Contract for Super Absorbent Polymer (SAP) Production Plant in Cilegon, Banten
PT Inti Karya Persada Tehnik (IKPT) has been awarded an EPC contract from PT. NIPPON SHOKUBAI INDONESIA (NSI), a subsidiary of NIPPON SHOKUBAI, CO., LTD. (NIPPON SHOKUBAI), Japan for expansion of the Super Absorbent Polymer (SAP) production plant, located in Cilegon, Banten.
The SAP plant expansion will have capacity of 50,000 tons/ year, thus increasing the SAP production capacity from 90,000 tons/ year to 140,000 tons/ year. With this SAP plant expansion, NSI can leverage its capacity from vertically integrated production from Acrylic Acid (AA) Plant to SAP Plant to meet the strong demand growth in the South Asian Market.
IKPT scope of work is Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) and project is targeted to be completed in 2027.
NIPPON SHOKUBAI is a very important client for TOYO and IKPT. TOYO has a longstanding and successful partnership with the NIPPON SHOKUBAI, starting from the construction of an SAP production plant in China in 2003, followed by numerous projects across Asia, Europe and the United States. In Indonesia, TOYO successfully completed an acrylic acid and SAP production plant for NSI in 2011 followed by an acrylic acid production plant in 2018. In 2023, IKPT successfully completed a new Acrylic Acid Plant for NSI. IKPT hopes strong relationship between NIPPON SHOKUBAI, TOYO and IKPT could continue for the companies’ future business expansion.
