The Groundbreaking Ceremony of The Expansion Project PT Smelting
On February 19th, 2022, President Director & CEO of IKPT, Mr. Yasuhiro Hime is attending the Groundbreaking Ceremony of the expansion project of PT Smelting in Gersik, East Java. This expansion project is including the development of the New Acid Plant, which is executed by IKPT as main contractor. By the development of this new acid factory, PT Smelting, will increase it production capacity from one-million-ton of cooper concentrate per year to 1.3 million tons of concentrate per year.
The ceremony also attended by the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Mr. Airlangga Hartarto, who enthusiastic with the development plan and hopes with the continued expansion of the industry in Gersik, then all PT Freeport’s production in Indonesia can be process domestically. Additionally, it also proves that Indonesia can increase its strength in the smelter industry and Gersik can become a concentrate processing industry cluster. IKPT, who also act as the contractor of the first Acid Plant of PT Smelting, commits to carry out the expansion project successfully.
